Microsoft Accounts are the current iteration of the tech giant’s single sign-in service.

Previously known as Microsoft Passport, .NET Passport, Microsoft Passport Network, and Windows Live ID, the service was rebranded as Microsoft Accounts back in 2012 to coincide with the release of Windows 8.
