Executive Abstract
The healthcare system is an important determinant in promoting the physical and mental health and well-being of everyone but understanding the ever-changing issues of physician and nurse recruitment and retention, care team development, and patient care quality and safety can be daunting at the best of times.
Add to that the classic business challenges of business planning, marketing and community development, staff training and development, medical equipment planning, IT resource allocation and budget planning and you have a challenge that seems insurmountable without the buy-in of the people who can help you succeed the most.
Surveys will only tell you what is going on (assuming you can get anyone to respond) and really only fosters a one-way discussion of an issue. Ultimately, you will need a way to foster true conversations with the masses of physicians, administrators, care teams, and even patients, else you run the risk of massive retention issues which can be costly at best and life threatening at worst.
